For over a decade, we’ve had a team dedicated to creating unique experiences for people like you: people who love nature and the outdoors, those with a passion for travel and adventure experiences. We show you the best and most beautiful places in Portugal, in particular the Peneda-Gerês National Park.

Whether you’ve been on many nature and adventure trips before or this is your first time, we have the right experience for you.

Who are we?

Tobogã – Portugal Adventure Tours is a tourist entertainment company with almost 20 years in the market, specializing in Canyoning experiences and electric mountain bike tours (e-MTB), as well as offering Stand-up-Paddle (SUP) experiences.

It has a license/RNAAT no. 50/2007 from Turismo de Portugal and guides certified by the International Canyoning Academy (ICA), Mountain Bike Instructor’s Awards Scheme (MIAS) and other certifications.

We are committed to the region and the planet and are certified by the European Charter for Sustainable Tourism in Alto Minho, an award granted by the EUROPARC Federation (a network representing Protected Areas in Europe).

We operate mainly in the north of Portugal, in the Alto Minho region and the Peneda-Gerês National Park, considered a UNESCO World Biosphere Heritage Site, with the highest classification for natural parks by the Word Wildlife Fund – WWF. It is in this natural cradle that we find the best natural conditions for practicing nature and adventure activities such as canyoning, bike and hiking trails, SUP and many other outdoor activities.

We work with local guides who want to share with you their passion for the region and the activities they lead, thus offering a unique experience! It’s our “Tobogã TEAM”. Specialized professionals selected through a vigorous and rigorous selection process and continuous training.

A canyoning experience and the discovery of paradisiacal waterfalls, diving in unique natural lagoons, an e-bike ride through ancient villages, discovering the local culture and gastronomy in breathtaking scenery and landscapes are some of our proposals.

Tobogã Team

Tobogã Team (TT) is a team that stands out for its spirit of unity, mutual support and its commitment to excellence and professionalism.

It is currently made up of 15 members from a wide range of backgrounds, including canyoning guides from the International Canyoning Commission (CIC), technicians and supervisors from the Industrial Rope Access Trade Association (IRATA), trainers from the International Adventure Park Association (IAPA), climbing trainers and rescue technicians from, among others, the Fire Brigade’s Wide Angle Rescue Groups. Although the origin of all these guides is diverse, when it comes to canyoning, homogeneity is an ever-present constant.

To be eligible to join this team, one of the prerequisites is that the canyonist attends and passes the TT Canyoning Assistant Guide Course, whose team of trainers is made up of CIC Canyoning Guides. It’s an intensive 100-hour training course spread over 10 days that requires a prior mastery of the sport and focuses on two main themes: whitewater and rope techniques, in the context of leading groups. This is the first phase of a TT guide.

In order to access the second stage of training, the 90-hour TT Canyoning Guide course spread over 9 days, the candidate must undergo a one-year practical internship in which they apply their knowledge in real situations when leading groups canyoning.

In practical terms, this training is reflected in various aspects, from the simple minimization of downtime on the river, to the dynamics of teamwork and, above all, prevention. This team is able not only to respond immediately to almost any incident or accident that may occur while canyoning, but above all, to anticipate them!

Apart from these courses, the team meets regularly in a formal training context to update procedures or techniques, as these are constantly evolving. They also regularly take part in training courses in other areas (rescue, first aid, whitewater activities, meteorology, etc.) in order not only to get to know other perspectives and other realities, but also to enrich the range of knowledge that can complement the aspects involved in a canyoning activity.

The aim of Tobogã Team is to provide our clients with a distinctive service and an unforgettable experience where they will always be accompanied by properly trained, competent staff who have undergone a rigorous and intense selection process.

This is Tobogã Team, a team that excels in safety, excellence and responsibility!
